Victims of Ignorance

Eric and I only watch a few shows on TV. We used to have a whole list but decided enough was enough and slowly started cutting down our list. We are now down to two shows, Lost and Smallville. We always watch our shows using the DVR so we pretty much never see any commercials, yes I know all of the commercial companies are hating me right about now.

One downside to never watching commercials is we never know what movies are coming out. We occasionally hear about them from our friends or links online but with us picking out a movie is now a guessing game.

Last night we suffered from that guessing game. Be warned--there will be a movie spoiler coming up--but don't worry if I spoil it, as you don't want to waste your time seeing it. We watched the movie The Haunting of Molly Hartley. We watched the preview on Apple web site and decided it had been a while since we had seen a scary movie, so why not.

During the movie it wasn't too bad... definitely intense at times, some good jumping moments, found yourself rooting for the "good" guy. But at the very end the movie took a horrible turn. Molly was dying as an infant and so her parents made a pact with some mysterious lady so that she could live, but then when she was 18 she was theirs. Basically they sold her to the devil. Without giving away too much more, basically the movie ended by teaching at best the lesson that human weakness has its consequences; but ultimately the movie taught that we cannot escape from our parents sins and that we cannot chose and be saved, it is basically too late! I couldn't believe how it ended it made me so mad and with a bad taste in my mouth. If we were not able to overcome our parents or others mistakes and could not choose, what would be the point??

So if you want to watch a movie with subpar acting that tells you there is no hope and there is nothing you can do then watch The Haunting of Molly Hartley.

  1. We don't watch scary movies much here. Rich doesn't like them. I would suggest: Mirrors and Mr. Brooks. Unless you have already seen them of course. ;)
