Today I am writing these rules for a prompt by Mama Kat. (check out her site is it great)
Rules of Motherhood: The Rules of the Play Ground
- DO NOT throw sand then coming crying to me when it gets in your eyes!
- DO NOT lick, kiss or put your mouth on any playground equipment!
- DO NOT bury your shovels, sand toys, or shoes and then complain when you cannot find them.
- DO NOT climb up the slide or stand at the bottom of the slide, you will be taken out.
- DO keep your shoes on; otherwise your feet will get burnt, splinters, stepped on or all of the above and I will probably just say "I told you so"
- DO play with the other kids so mommy can sit and talk with the other grownups; don't you know the park is as much for me as it is for you?
- DO go around running, screaming and going crazy to ensure all of your energy is depleted so you will take a nap.
Follow these rules, and any others I may decided to throw out there last minute, and all will have a good playground experience.
Thanks Mama Kat for the great writing prompt!
LOL! What a great way of you both making new friends! And great ideas for the kids to tire themselves out!
ReplyDeleteLOL Emmy.....whahahaha..love these...here is one of my big ones when kiddos fight...
ReplyDeleteIf I didn't see or hear it..work it out or I will do it for you. They all know this means that Miss Sarah will have them both sit for a minute until they can figure out a way to get along or solve the problem.
Oh and this one..you hit you sit...
Hugs and giggles..Sarah
Nice rules. My no. 1 playground rule. Send them with Daddy so that I can get some time by myself. LOL
ReplyDeleteStopping by from SITS.
I just loooooove the photo! The perfect illustration of why playgrounds are so fun for everyone! Look at that face!
ReplyDeleteAnd I know what you mean ... I hate it when kids ruin playground time for Mommy with their "petty" complaints.
: )
I miss playgrounds, most Army posts have them everywhere but due to the location of my house I am not anywhere close to one without a drive/long walk. I miss it and the women I would talk with.
ReplyDeleteThe one I would add is slides are for going Down not up.
You could say those rules over and over. They still don't listen. LOL I love that picture. My son loves the swings too.
ReplyDeleteThey sound like good rules to me !
ReplyDeleteThat that picture at the end! The perfect rules for the park!
ReplyDeleteHahahaha, the do's and don't's of the park. Gotta love it. And yes, the picture of Alex is tooo cute!
ReplyDeleteThose are funny! Miyah has just really started to like swinging; I'm excited to start going to play groups now that she would have something to do ... like you said, it's as much for the parents as the kids. :)
ReplyDeleteCouldn't have said it better myself!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog. Feel free to check mine ouy at:

It's too bad they don't have these posted up at each playground:) Sometimes it's the moms who need to read the rules! I've had a few run ins with the pinchy kid or pusher kid and their moms just sit back most of the time while my kids get clobbered. Drives me nuts!
ReplyDeleteGreat rules and an even greater picture=)
ReplyDeleteI need some rules for my kids. You've inspired me.
ReplyDeleteMan. I never realize all the phases my kids have gone through until I am around or reading about someone with kids younger than mine. I remember this like it was yesterday, but we aren't in this phase anymore :(
ReplyDeleteChildhood goes too quickly. Makes me think sometimes I should stop blogging and just live in every moment more.
Those rules are so funny, yet sad because they are so true.
ReplyDeleteNumber 6 pretty much sums up my park experience. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the picture you put put with your rules. So perfect!!!
