Time For Tots: Turkey Craft

This week we were lucky enough to have Lourie from CA Girl join us for Time For Tots day. I knew getting a 4 and 5 year-old who love playing together to sit and craft was a small shot, so we stuck with one project.

And here is our Time For Tots Turkey Day.

I bought two big Styrofoam balls and cut them in half. I then spray painted the balls brown. Tip: Do not soak the balls while spray painting as it will eat away the balls. So spray--let dry a bit then spray more.

I printed out the head pattern, found here, on light brown card stock. The kids then colored their heads or just cut them out.

We then glued googly eyes, an orange felt beek and the gobble on the turkey.

Then we started to run into problems, we tried just gluing the head to the ball and Lucas' stuck but the rest did not. So definitely use hot glue to get the heads to stick to the ball.

After the heads were on it was the kids favorite part, sticking in the feathers. The kids were easily able to push the feathers right in.

And the finished products, well I will just let you see for yourself.

Ryan (Lourie's 4-year-old) is missing from the pictures, as he decided he would let his mom make his turkey today.

Supplies (for 4 turkeys)
-Two medium size Styrofoam balls
-Brown Spray Paint
-Pattern for head printed on card stock --pattern found here on Kaboose Krafts
-Bag of googly eyes (middle size)
-Orange Felt for beaks
-Red Lace paper for gobbles (you can just use card stock)
-Two bags of feathers
-Glue (hot glue recommended)
-Scissors
-Brown Marker (optional)
