Got Any Cheese?

Anyone know what show the title is from? Here's another hint, "Did I do that?"

In case you are still boggled, I will tell you, Family Matters. Why am I bringing this up?

Well, today Shortmama is asking us "What is your trigger food? Do you have one type of food that just sets you over the edge?"

And for me it is cheese. If I am walking past the fridge I have a really hard time not opening up the door and grabbing a string cheese, or a pre-sliced piece of provolone or cheddar. Or even better, a string cheese with a few pieces of pastrami or thinly sliced beef wrapped around it. Mmm... see, I have got to stop.

And yes dairy is good, especially for a woman.. but moderation my friends and different forms of dairy are what I need.

Since I have begun my muffin top journey I have not done perfectly. In fact there were a few days were I just totally blew it. But since starting it I have thought about it every day. Many times as I am headed towards the cupboards or fridge I suddenly remember the goals I made and just keep walking.

My exercise goal.. well that is the one that has been completely severely lacking. I did go to a Zumba class one night with a bunch of ladies from church. We just did a half hour session and it kicked my butt. But it was so much fun! The instructor came and did a special session for our church group, but I really should try and make it to the studio that she teaches at as I liked it and it would definitely help get rid of my muffin top.

I think if Ryder was a bit older I would totally get a gym membership, but it just isn't really feasible right now.

So I just need to keep going and somehow figure out how I am really going to exercise and not just think about it. Join up with Shortmama's journey, it really can help.

  1. I took Zumba classes at the YMCA while I was engaged and I LOVED it! I actually cried when I had to email the instructor to tell her I wouldn't be coming to class anymore (around the time of the wedding, my office moved, and then of course I moved after we got married, and it just wasn't convenient anymore). But man, oh man, LOVED it! It was completely addictive. Good luck finding your workout groove--sometimes I feel like that's the hardest part!

  2. Cheese and carbs are my downfall too.

I would love to do a Zumba class, but with the hubs in class two nights a week, it will have to wait.

  3. Trigger food. Hmmm....Do I have to pick just one? YIKES!

Mama does love her chocolate. I can't eat just one cookie, or one peice of chocolate--I find myself binging sometimes. It's a "sweet" escape!

  4. My trigger is anything that is sweet. And it really helps to make things like brownies "for the kids" NOT! I can walk past cheese and not bat an eye, but if there are brownies or cookies I stop dead in my tracks.

Exercise...well I bought a DVD from WW yesterday...we'll see what happens there. ;)

  5. Cheese is a big downfall for me too. Maybe it wouldn't be so tempting if you stopped buying the precut slices?

Exercise is my impossible thing too . . .

  6. Cheese! Oh cheese used to be a killer for me too. I would do the same thing with grabbing a string cheese or a slice of cheese. Sometimes I still have to really fight the urge to grab it

  8. Being on this no dairy diet, cheese is the hardest thing for me. Even harder than chocolate. I miss it! Even though I'm at my pre-pregnancy weight, I think I would rather eat cheese and still have those extra 15 lbs. Sigh.

  9. I have a gym membership and never use it. My husband yells at me every time the automatic payment comes out. I tried Zumba once, but I dance like a white girl and the class is an hour long and I was sweating like I'd been in a sauna. I don't like to sweat. I don't like to be chubby either, so I'm going to have to decide on one or the other.

  11. Eliminating cheese was always the suggestion when I used to attend weight watchers meetings...it took me a long time to stop craving it and find other things to substitute and eat instead. I feel your pain...

  12. I am with you there! I love me a nice slice of pepperjack, or I'll melt some between tortillas for a quick quesadilla. Great. It's too late for me to be thinking about food, dangit!
I wanna try Zumba. I've heard so many people talk about it, and I wonder if it would be fun enough to keep me on track...

  13. Oh, cheese is one of my biggest weaknesses too! I.LOVE.IT!!
Have you ever been to LaFrontera in S.L.? I am really craving a smothered burrito with cheese and onions!

  14. Cheese is one of my major pitfalls too! Sharp cheddar is just too tempting to pass up, and I could eat it all by itself. Good for you for making goals. I'm 11 days post partum and looking forward to losing the baby weight sooner then later!

  16. *enter sheepish grin* You are doing so great! i guess I have to be accountable now. I have been doing... well, just doing, I guess. With the sprained ankle, exercise is not really an option. And Keith broke the wii and dvd player, so exercise in those forms are out. Cheese is also my downfall. And sweets. But mostly cheese. I WILL do it with you, though. I just have to get this ankle better and a few other things cleared up!
And good for you for doing the Zumba class. That sounds like a lot of fun. I am rooting for you!
