Then I hit the ever so cool years of 11(cough cough gag me) and those four years suddenly seemed like a lot. I wasn't as willing to let her tag along anymore.
My Senior year of high school we were in school together once again, but I was the big senior on campus and she was just a freshmen. We did see each other a lot during musical practice though. And then I went to college across the country to BYU. I was 18 she was 14.
After I graduated, I only came home for one more summer and then after my sophomore year I got married. So really in my mind, she sort of did freeze at 14. As you all probably know, or do if you read my blog, this weekend she got married. She is definitely not 14 anymore and as I watched her throughout the weekend I realized she has grown into an amazing, confident fun woman who I feel like I only kind of know. It was kind of bitter sweet. The 14-year-old I remember, never would have had the courage or the skill to do this.
So worth watching.

That is awesome! The Beyoncee dance was my fave but they sure rocked out to N'Sync too! Congrats to your sister and her new hubs!
ReplyDeleteGreat post Em, sisters are somehow very special!
ReplyDeleteThat was great! I also enjoyed hearing Eric laugh. And I am impressed, my hubby wouldn't have done something like that for anything! ;)
ReplyDeleteYour sister is a rockin' dancer!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun first dance!
ReplyDeleteShe must be a fun sister. I'm a big stick in the mud. My little sister is the fun one.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! That was so fun!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!! They are adorable and hilarious!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I bet they had a blast with their preparations. Wow! And it is so much easier to connect with little sisters (mine is 4 years younger as well) as we all get older. I hope you can do lots of reconnect with her.
ReplyDeleteThat was an awesome wedding dance! Was that Lucas in the bottom right corner? He was cracking me up. He must have known things were going to happen and just couldn't wait. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is just so funny!
ReplyDeleteThat was so cute and clever! It's so weird seeing your younger siblings being adults, isn't it? Most of the time my younger brothers are better adults than me!
ReplyDeleteThat is so fun!! I love it! I totally wouldn't be able to pull that off! Congrats to your family and your sister!
ReplyDeleteI showed it to my mom earlier today, and Eric was there--confused commenters may think I mean YOUR Eric--anyhoo he was loving it. What a fun couple they are.
ReplyDeleteThat is just great! I don't think I could ever do that! I've talked about it, but I'm sure I'd never have the courage! And I have to add that her dress is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat was wonderful!! I wish I'd had the skills, memory and coordination to do something like that at my wedding! What fun! They'll have such a fun wedding video just with that part!
ReplyDeleteAnd I know what you mean about not feeling like you know your siblings as adults. I feel the same way about my "not so baby" brothers!
Can't touch that.
ReplyDeleteOh that was great! What an awesomely fun couple they make!
ReplyDeleteThat was so fun!! I think your sister's hubby was having more fun than your sister!
ReplyDeleteOh Emily...thanks for posting this...I loved seeing Melissa and her new husband. Wishing them lots of happiness!
