Aunt Flo-It's a Guy Thing

One of the benefits of nursing is Aunt Flo usually doesn't come a knockin'. (Did all of my male readers just run away?) I had heard this happens but wasn't sure what to expect with Lucas. Well she stayed away for a good 14 months! So plus the 9 months I was pregnant that was almost two years of wonderful bliss.

I was totally excited for this to happen again after Alex. After the initial um.. clean-out (sorry guys), I was expecting to be on my merry way; but one month later and I had a visit! And I had that darn lady came back every month the entire time I nursed.

And have you seen Alex as a baby? Alex almost 6 months old

She nursed all of the time and just look... yes that was all from me.

So needless to say, I didn't have my hopes up this time, especially with Ryder being a preemie and things just being weird. But low and behold that Auntie is staying away! Us ladies know how uncomfortable this subject makes most men... and so my only conclusion is that it is a guy thing. Boys don't like it, so it stays at bay for my guys. Now if only I could keep that benefit when I am done nursing...

  1. Oh, I'm so jealous. I got NO break with my first one. About 3 months with my second. With my 3rd, I had about a 6 month break.

Even though I exclusiving bf and my kids all nursed like crazy. :(

  3. It takes me 3 months *after* I stop bfing to start my period again. I remembering calculating it one time, it was like a handful of periods in an 8 year period.

    Bliss~

  4. Yay for Aunt Flo staying away!! I didn't nurse Buddy, so it came back quickly. But with Buster, he was almost a year old when it came back...like maybe 10 or 11 months. At that point, I didn't have much supply left, and with starting a new job, I pumped much less frequently.

Of course, that also meant that my weight loss stopped and reversed on me!

  7. I think Ryan gave me my biggest break. So you are right, it must be a guy thing.

  8. Haha, wasn't expecting that post! With my girl it came back pretty fast and with my boy I don't really remember, but I also didn't nurse with either. However, when I went on my birth control pill for my ovulation pain last year all of a sudden it Aunt Flo got up and left. It was great!

  9. All growing up I was so irregular. I loved that I could go months without "surrendering to the communists" but never knowing when it would come was a little annoying. At any rate, nursing is wonderful in that aspect!

  10. Hmmm ... maybe it is a boy thing. I didn't have any break with Miyah either. I'm glad you're getting one!

  12. Wow, that is a BEAUTIFUL baby! Oh my goodness! ADORABLE!

I would not know about that my dear. Neither one of my kiddos would nurse. So I got to go right back into the swing of things. Blah. The one good thing is having Aunt Flo around makes it incredibly easy to do natural family planing! LOL

  13. Definitely a MAJOR perk of nursing. But mine never stayed away for 14 months!!! The most I got was 10 months and I was nursing twins!

  14. I can't decide if I'm getting an IUD or tubes tied after this one. On the one hand, there is a guarantee of no more babies but the other way is a guarantee of no/less periods....Decisions, decisions...

  15. I never had a problem as long as I was nursing AND taking the mini pill. If I stopped doing either one of those things, she came a knockin' with a vengeance!
I always said that I must have produced cream or butter as opposed to just milk. My babies were FAAAATTT, all because of me!
