So, especially with Christmas coming up I thought it would be a great time to answer some questions and share some tips on getting great pictures.
If you have any photography questions or anything that you have always had trouble with or just want some more advice, just leave a comment on this post with your question. And then on Thursday, I will do my best to answer all of your questions and give you a few tips while I am at it.
And in case you are in need of a few tips right now, you can go read this post and this post where I previously offered a few tips.
Oh and guess what is coming tomorrow?? My Jan-March recap of the year for part of the 2010 Review Extravaganza! I figured I should lead by example and will get my recap up early but Friday is still the day to link up.
And just in case you somehow totally missed hearing what this Extravaganza is about, you can read all about it here. Did I mention there are prizes involved??
I have a point and shoot. How can I get that little focus square to focus on what I want it to focus on? It seems to be random and it makes me nuts!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I can't wait to read the questions and replies. I don't have specific questions (right now), but am looking forward to reading and learning!
ReplyDeleteIf I get a zoom lens(dreaming here) for Christmas, I will have a ton of questions! :D
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to all your great answers!
ReplyDeleteAnd the review thing, awesome idea!
We're looking to upgrade the ancient digital camera we have that we got for our wedding 5 1/2 years ago. I've noticed that with our horrible camera I NEVER take pictures of our kids, and that just isn't right. Heck, I don't even know where our camera is right now. So, what is your recommendation for a camera for a mom who likes taking pictures, wants them to be good quality images, but doesn't want to spend a fortune on a high end camera (yet).
ReplyDeleteLOVE learning camera tips. :)
ReplyDeleteI need to get my review ready!
I think my problem is that I can't get my kids to sit still long enough to be in a pic!
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog from mormon moms who blog. Love your kids' picks. I'm following now, so I'll be back.
ReplyDeleteYou woudl think I would know this, but do you have a lens hood and if you do, what lens is it for. Do you think it's worth having.?
ReplyDeleteFYI, I don't have a high tech camera at all, so I don't have much control over it. But my question is how to eliminate background clutter. My house is so busy and I love taking shots of Miyah playing and doing her thing but my house isn't always the cleanest. What can I do to get my pictures less cluttered and busy in the background?
ReplyDeleteChristmas eve (after dark) we let the boys open a couple presents...how can I get good pics with my DSLR without using a harsh flash? I turn on all the lights in the livingroom, and yet without a flash, the pics are blurry? I up the ISO, but that doesn't seem to help. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI need help with creative back-drops. It's hard to take my kids "on location" but the trees and fence in our backyard are getting old!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fantastic post and I love the beginner tips ... and since getting my DSLR, which I'm sure you're aware of - I have a ton of questions!
ReplyDeleteDo you have any tips for shooting photos at night?
Can you explain a little about ISO, aperture, etc?
I know you're a natural light photographer ... I'm wondering what you do when there is less natural light than you hoped for?
If I think of any more, I will be back!
Mandy
I love that you forgot you were a professional photographer - isn't it a great feeling when you remember something fantastic?
