How was Valentines Day? Did you get something extra sweet and nice? Well, whether you did or not, I have something extra sweet and nice for you today!
Wanna see?
That purse and clutch are just a couple of samples of the amazing vintage inspired bags and accessories available in Sur Le Feu Etsy Shop.
How did I find out about this shop? Well I am lucky enough to know the designer in real life! She and I actually grew up in the same town and went to school together since grade school. In high school I performed in the plays and musicals and she was backstage helping us all look good with amazing work on the costumes. And now-well now she is a freelance costume designer and many of the fabrics she uses for the purses are remnants from shows she has worked on. So she is the real deal and she truly knows what she is doing.
I asked her a few questions about her shop:
Q: When did you start the shop
A: I just opened shop on Etsy last month, although I've been making purses for a few years. Etsy is a great venue for my purses because it focuses on handmade items but also has a section for actual vintage pieces. It was a perfect match!
Q: Why did you decide to make vintage items?
A: I've always loved vintage things - fashion, books, house stuff, advertisements... if it's old, I'm drawn to it. I started collecting vintage clothing when I was in high school, and purses fell into that category. (It's also good to have a collection of vintage pieces for my work as a costume designer) There's just something special about carrying a vintage bag - you feel transported to a more elegant time, when dressing up wasn't only for special occasions but a way of life. Unfortunately, actual vintage purses weren't made to hold more than a lipstick and mirror. Making vintage-inspired pieces gives me the chance to have that connection to the past, but I get to bring my cell phone and other modern conveniences with me.
Q: Describe a favorite outfit you would wear while using one of your purses.
A: Right now, if I had to choose a purse to grab and take out on the town, it would be the Pleated Clutch in Rockstar Plaid. (Pictured to the Right) I love how it turned out. It has a great "glam with an edge" quality that can work with almost any outfit. I would use it with 2 different looks: with my little black dress and heels and vintage (of course!) and rhinestone earrings for a night out with my husband, or with a pair of jeans, boots, and a black sweater for a more casual look.
And a special note about her shop to keep in the spirit of finding unique vintage pieces, each bag she makes is only created in a style and fabric combination the one time. You will never see someone carrying the exact same purse! So in other words if there is something you love, get it now!!
And are you ready for the best part? She has generously offered for one of my readers to receive a $25 gift certificate towards any one of a kind item in her shop!
I am very jealous that I won't be able to win this myself, but am going to use the discount code which she is also offering my readers to get a purse for myself. More about this later.
So what do you have to do to win this gift certificate?
1) You first must go visit her shop-click here- and come back and leave a comment telling me which item you would use your gift certificate for.
