If you don't come right away or whine or fuss too much then you lose your opportunity to have a sandwich and are left to eat the dinner or go to bed hungry. Lucas recently went to bed pretty hungry but most of the time the kids will come and at least try dinner.
One night Alex came and sat down but Lucas took one look at the dinner (a pasta with cream cheese and chicken dish) and said ewww and declared he was not going to eat it.
"But Lucas it's good, come eat it" Alex sweetly told her brother. "It's good, it tastes like cake!"
"It doesn't taste like cake!" Lucas said sceptically.
"Yes" I agreed, "it doesn't taste like cake, but it is chicken and pasta and cream cheese, all foods you like so come eat."
"No, it is good it really tastes like cake!" Alex declared again. She then paused, a sly look began filling her eyes. "Everything tastes like cake. Except cake tastes like chicken nuggets."
And she laughed and laughed.
And so did we.

Are you getting your Ten Things to Smile About Lists ready? I hope so. Thursday will be the day to write your post and link up. You can even write your post a few days sooner or later and just link up on Thursday if you would like. For those of you who may be new, every month I look back at the month and find Ten Things that made me Smile. Whether it be something good that happened, something funny, or just even a pretty sunset. I then write up a list to help me remember the good that happens in every month. I often include pictures in my list but you don't have to. All you have to do is write you list, include the button in your post and then link up. An easy post and so fun to read.
So did he ever actuall try it?
ReplyDeleteI think it would be a waste to go to bed hungry when a chicken pasta meal with cream cheese is being served!
I like your rule, by the way! I think I might "tweak" mine to resemble yours a bit more. Sounds like it usually works pretty well...
The way Lucas was acting is how Ethan acts 5 nights a week. Lately he's even chosen to go hungry (saying, I'm not eating and walking away) then try one bite. It's a bit concerning and frustrating too!
ReplyDeleteAnd miss Alex, well she is just plain cute! That was funny!
LOL!! Alex cracks me up.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what my kids would say if I said something tasted like cake. That is so cute. Did he eat it?
ReplyDeleteWhat doesn't taste like chicken nuggets. Actually, McNuggets do not taste like nuggets. So there's one thing.
ReplyDeleteThis story was too funny.
Alex is so funny!! Did he ever eat?
ReplyDeleteWe have a very similar rule. The kids need to at least try it.
ReplyDelete*love* your dinner rule! Alex is way too cute!
ReplyDeleteWe have a one bite rule. You have to eat at least one bite of everything on the plate. If you don't like it you don't have to have anymore. I try to have something on the plate that the kids will eat. Turbo's tastes have changed in the last couple of years and now he will eat more.
ReplyDeleteAwwwww, she's developing quite the sense of humor already! I love it!
ReplyDeleteHehehe. If everything tasted like cake, maybe I would have a chance at losing weight. I don't like cake. Sigh. Pie, on the other hand, I would be a goner. What a silly girl she is. :)
ReplyDeleteThat Alex! You're going to have to watch *that* one. LOL Her reverse comparison is pretty clever.
ReplyDelete...except cake taste like chicken nuggets, lol! She is so cute!
ReplyDeleteGreat rule and awesome post! And, uh, can I have a piece of that cake...
ReplyDeleteI also like your rule and I am going to start using it. Glad you shared the story, sooo cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to help kids try different things without it becoming a huge stigma. I'll have to remember that.
ReplyDeleteI love her! That is just too stinking funny! What a riot :)
ReplyDeleteI want some. Of the chicken stuff and the cake.
ReplyDeleteWhat a funny girl!
Cake tastes like chicken nuggets? LMAO!!
ReplyDeleteHee hee! She is funny!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your dinner time rules!
