Proud Mommy Moments: Home Teachers Part II

It's Thursday! Time for Proud Mommy Moments. This is a weekly- every Thursday- meme hosted by Kmama of the Daily Dribbles and myself. This is your chance to brag about your kids and tell us those awesome things they have done or tell us the times that make you oh so "proud"- but hey at least it gives us all a good laugh.

Please, please grab the button for your post to help spread the word about this fun meme. Also, please remember to link up to your specific post and not your blog in general.

If you remember about a month ago I wrote about The Home Teacher- can read it here if you missed it- and how my kids made me so "proud" by horrifically embarrassing us with their obnoxious out of control behavior. So we threatened them had a talk and told them that we would be setting three toys aside. These toys would be their incentive and reminder as to how they should behave. If they remembered these toys and behaved properly, they would get the toys back when the home teachers left.

Another appointment was scheduled, they come every month, and we were all prepared with the toys safely stowed away. They began teaching a lesson. Lucas charmed them with his endless knowledge on all things mechanical and Alex actually stayed and listened and probably only flashed her underwear once- the girl does not know how to sit still while wearing a dress- and overall it was a very nice visit with a great message shared.

We ended the lesson by saying a prayer. As soon as the prayer was over Lucas loudly asked "so now can we get our toys back?"

Yes, bribes and threats works every time... right?

What is your PMM this week?

  4. That's really funny Em! And Madeline is the same way! She always lifts her dress high above her head before sitting down so the dress is around her instead of sitting on it. I always put leggings under her dresses for that reason! :)

I say, do whatever works, right!

  6. Awww..that's cute! So now do you have a talk on when to ask that question? Like after the home teacher leaves? We don't have home teachers here. But you know, I'm in Oklahoma. We have farms and cows and chickens and our traffic jams may be due to a tractor on the road. I'm just glad we still don't have dirt roads.

  7. I am a compulsive briber. Except with the older ones. Them I just threaten to take away phones and cars. It works too.

  10. Oh we bribe... a lot... probably too much now that I think about it. Sometimes it works better than other times, but for the most part I think "incentives" are amazing!

  13. Oh can I relate! My kids are not so good at listening. I'm glad your bribe worked...mostly. My girls are required to wear leggings under every dress and skirt. They are fond of doing random cart wheels, whatever they are wearing. :)

  14. We have had the same home teacher for 17 years and the kids love him! Their favorite is during the month of October he tells them a little flannelboard story about a ghost who ate the wrong colored foods and changed colors. They love it! October wouldn't be the same without it.
