Running My First 5K

About six weeks ago I was talking with some of my friends after exercise class.

"So we'll meet this Saturday to go running," they said. "Come running with us we're training for a 5K."

No way I thought- running is not my thing and I have never even ran more than a mile in my life.

But somehow by the end of that conversation I had agreed to at least come that Saturday and see how it went. And well- let's admit it, I am way too competitive and pretty stubborn so I knew I was in for the long haul.

Six weeks of training and yesterday was the big race.

We posed for pictures before- and yes we matched on purposeWe joined the big crowd-
Then we were off!

My official time hasn't been posted yet- and I missed it when I finished-- but I came in right around 34 minutes- so I was very happy with that for my first 5K. Post Race- we did it! The girl next to me came in third for our age category

  21. 34 minutes?! Holy cow girl, you ROCKED your first 5K! And how stinkin' cute you look in your turquoise shirt and black leggings. Remind me that if we ever meet and go for a run (well run for me, walk for you-seeing as how blazin' fast you are) that I need to buy a running wardrobe.
