As a child I loved imaginative play. Everything from house, to restaurant, to the grocery store. I would even cut out families out of the Sears catalog and have whole dialogs and role playing with my family.
Now as an adult-- I just seem to have lost some of that imagination and joy from it. But everyone once in a while I harness that inner child and really get into the play.
Alex: "Mom play restaurant with me."
Me: "Okay let's do it."
Alex ran and got a pad of paper and a pencil and instructed me where to sit. She then approached me.
Alex: In her snooty/elegant/important voice, "And what would you like today?"
Me feeling silly and possibly a bit punkish responded in my best hick/ignorant/stupid person voice, "What ya got today, any good grub?"
Alex: "Mom! No Idaho people! Do not talk like that. You are talking like your an Idaho person."
Sorry Dad- really I never taught her people from Idaho are like that.
Oh my LORD - that is hilarious! Idaho people?!?! Where on earth did she get that? :)
ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh - Kids are so funny!!
ReplyDeleteAfter that, even though I live in Idaho now, I guess I am glad I am from California!! :-D
That's pretty funny that she would relate it to Idaho people! And I thought this was going to be a post about Mr. Potato Head!

HAHA!!! I once told my kids not to talk like North Dakota.....I've lived to regret that.

ReplyDeleteBwhahahaha! At least she didn't say Oklahoma. Idaho is ok. =) She's so funny!
ReplyDeleteHahaha! So cute, sounds like Ohio people though....Ok my part of Ohio haha!
ReplyDeleteThat is just too funny. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou could really throw her and pretend you are from North Carolina where they say, "You got drank?" This means what do you have to drink. If you want to have a drink it's: You want drank? hahahaha.
ReplyDeleteSo funny! Pretend play takes so much brain power doesn't it? I always feel bad when I am not up for it with my kids but it takes a lot of work... it was much more fun when we were 5.
ReplyDeleteThat silly girl. Poor Idaho, getting picked on (wink).
