What do you Want for Your Birthday?

When I was a kid I could always think of a million thing I wanted for my birthday. Now, I can often think of a million things anytime other than my birthday. Why is that? Why as soon as people are asking me what I want can I not think of anything?

As Eric's birthday approached I began asking him what he wanted. What was on his list? New iPad's- which were announced on his birthday actually and the new apple TV to name a few. And well, if you saw my twitter status you know he did get what he wanted for his birthday. He also ordered them and payed for them himself so I wanted to get him something else too.

We began the celebration on Monday by going out to dinner at Fudruckers. A week full of Cub Scouts, Soccer, and basketball made Monday the only available day.

Then on his birthday the kids and I made a cake. Alex helped frost and Lucas wrote the words and the confetti.
(I helped with birthday)

Then the presents.

What do you get a grown man who just bought himself everything from his own list essentially?

Candy
(Ryder had a fit when I took these and wrapped them up- so happy to see again)

And a motion activated machine for dispensing said candy
Candy making kit from his big sis
And jerky-
hey why not?

And a blender.
Yep- he is on a big smoothie kick and the POC blender we have had since we got married just wasn't cutting it anymore.

He was a happy man.

Do you have a hard time writing a birthday list?

  2. I do have a hard time coming up with a birthday wish list, so I now add things to a wish list on Amazon. It's always there and can be referenced at any time of the year. :)

  6. Awww, love the birthday blender pics! :) We always get Daddy candy too. And beef jerkey, for that matter! :) It's so hard when they go out and buy everything they want ahead of time.

And no, I can never think of anything for my birthday either. Every other month out of the year, I have a running list.

  7. I'm like Liz in which I have a list all year long and then when I need it, I can't think of a single thing. *sigh*

  9. Cake, fuddruckers and candy! That sounds like the perfect birthday. My husband hates celebrating his birthday so we only do a cake and cards with small gifts, I think he would love opening up nothing but candies and beef jerky! :)

  10. Alright, you convinced me. I kind of knew already, but all boys, even in their 30's...like candy and burgers for their bdays. They're ginormous kids at heart! :)

  11. Looks like a fun celebration!

I have SUCH a difficult time with birthday lists. My husband and I both have a tough time because everything we really want that isn't super expensive, we've bought ourselves. Our list usually includes all sorts of high priced items that no one except for my parents will buy us. :)

I need to keep candy in mind though...always a fun gift!

  12. Happy birthday to your husband!!! Ya'll gave him a perfect birthday!!! The gifts he bought for himself were pretty nice, too... ;o)

I never know what to ask for for my birthday. Family normally sends me money and then Cory and I don't ever exchange gifts, so I don't even really need a list. :o)

  14. How fun for Lucas to do the lettering!

I always know what to buy for other people...but when it's my turn...I draw a blank. I don't neeed anything I will say.

  15. My husband is the exact same way ... makes the list an practically orders it for you so you don't "mess it up." It isn't fun. Whenever I go off the list, he usually ends up returning it. Sigh.

Love the cake! Lucas did a good job. (I could "barely" tell you helped with birthday. HAHA!)

  19. One of my sister's and my favorite things to do is for her to take the kids shopping and let them pick what they think I should have for my birthday. I've gotten lots of costume jewelry and one year I got a WebKinz.

  20. The best part of these pictures is your kids' excitement!!!

I feel the same way. No ideas come bday time

  22. That's funny he got all that candy! I also liked the picture of the Blender! I'm on a big smoothie kick now too and I would have been excited to get that :).

I am like your husband I usually buy whatever I want before my birthday and say they are my birthday presents so when it's time for my birthday I don't know what I want.
it's bad with my kids too because I will buy them things throughout the year and then when it comes time for their birthdays I don't know what to get them.

  23. I never make birthday lists. At my house, they are pretty much on their own.

  26. He sounds just like my husband. Corey orders the new ipad the day they come out, and gets everything else he wants before I can! We end up with candy and stuff too!
