Soccer season has just wrapped up. This year both Lucas and Alex played.
Lucas found his nitch playing defense. He got really good at predicting where the ball would be going and cutting in and getting the ball away from the other team.
Game face |
If you know Lucas- you know that he loves anything mechanical- loves knowing how anything and everything works and will analyze and talk about it forever. We truly think he will invent something in the garage someday that will make millions of dollars.
Well his analytic tendencies have an interesting impact on his soccer skills. You see, after every big play where he stopped the other team- he would yell over to Eric (who was the assistant coach) about what he did and how he was able to stop the other player- yes in the middle of the game. Focus boy, focus!
This is Alex's first year playing soccer. Alex is in a league for 4 and 5 year-olds. She is definitely not the oldest kid in her league but she is definitely one of the biggest. She uses her size and speed to break away and go take the ball down the field- scoring about half of the time, the other half she is going too fast and just ends up kicking it out (the goal in her league is itty-bitty though like 3 feet across, no joke). She usually scores at least one goal every-game, and last week even made one from mid-field.
A girl from the other team came in to try and stop the ball- both girls hit the ball from opposite sides at the exact same time momentarily stopping the ball. The force- well knocked the other girl over. Alex stepped over her, kicked it and it went in from mid-field, yep I was proud.
Alex will be unstoppable when she stops taking water breaks in the middle of the game and chewing on her hair or fingers nails while running after the ball. Focus Girl, focus!
So today what is my proud mommy moment? Obviously a bit of the above two- but really it is my up-and coming player.
Barely-two-years-old's and watch this.
Watch out world here he comes.
