Proud Mommy Moments: Anxiety-0

It's Thursday!!  It is Proud Mommy Moments (#PMM) time!  This is your weekly chance to brag about the awesome things your kids, nieces, nephews, etc did and no one will judge because we told you to you to. Or you can do the opposite and tell us about those moments your kids made you so "proud"- i.e. something totally embarrassing. Please grab the button for your post and visit my co-host Kmama.

Every Thursday!

Before I get to my PMM- have to announce the winner of the Visa Gift Card giveaway from last week.  I let random.org do the the dirty work and the winner is...
Having moved so many times in the past you learn all kinds of tricks. My personal favorite is lighting. I learned early on that I neeed light and lots of it. So I really love the lighting tips. And how they give you ideas on how to update what you already have so you don't have to go and spend loads of money. Light opens a room and makes it happy. Of course natural is best, but you have to work with what you got!

Congrats!!  I will be in touch to get the info.  Now PMM time

Saturday was a fun busy day for us.  In the morning we went to Sesame Street live- free tickets I won-- and actually all really enjoyed it, even though most of us are past the Sesame Street age.  Then in the evening we spent the time at our local mini-golf course (which is a golf course on steroids with all kinds of rides).

After the kids had their fill of the tilt-a-whirl, mini-coaster and merry-go-round we headed over to the go-karts.  We realized Lucas was not tall enough to drive himself.  We asked him if he wanted to and he just wasn't sure and decided to ride as my passenger.

After we successfully made it around (we took 1st place and even lapped a person- thank you very much) he decided he did want to drive.   He was still pretty nervous though so I suggested that Eric or I be his passenger.  He liked this idea and Eric got back in line with him.

They went to get in their cart and the attendant told them they could not do this- you have to be 18 to drive a passenger.  Lucas stood there and I had flashbacks- flashbacks of a time at Disney, flashbacks of birthday parties, flashbacks of numerous times when a sudden change of plans or a sudden new decision needed left Lucas nearly paralyzed with fear and indecision.  His desire to do the thing overcome with anxiety and fear.  This has been something he and we have been dealing with since he was tiny.

I just knew it was coming and braced myself for some embarrassing tears.

I sighed and then watched him climb into his own go-kart ready to go.  I couldn't believe it- he was doing it-- and he decided quickly!  I was so so proud!!

Eric got in the go-kart behind him, half to protect anyone from bumping into him I think.  He took the first lap very cautiously-- but then just started going.  He was never passed by anyone!   I was so proud!  And you can bet I made sure to tell him.   I told him the thing I was most proud of was not that he drove really well-but that when put in a situation where what he had planned did not work out, rather than stand there and worry and over-think he overcame his fear, made a decision and made it quickly.

It was a very good day.

What is your Proud Mommy Moment this week?
