Proud Mommy Moments: Clean-Up

It's Thursday!!  It is Proud Mommy Moments (#PMM) time!  This is your weekly chance to brag about the awesome things your kids, nieces, nephews, etc did and no one will judge because we told you to you to. Or you can do the opposite and tell us about those moments your kids made you so "proud"- i.e. something totally embarrassing. Please grab the button for your post and visit my co-host Kmama.

Every Thursday!

The lazy dog days of summer- or however that expression goes.  All I know is I am grateful for our family economy system we have in place as otherwise I would totally live up to that saying and not do a thing- let alone have my kids do anything.  And while that might sound nice for a day or two- it would ultimately lead to disaster and a lot of unhappy people.

On Tuesday Alex's job was to clean her closet.  I went up to her room with her- knowing we needed to do more than just the closet as Alex is a hoarder.  She loves putting things from all over the houses in purses and bags and adds them to the even growing collection in her room.  We opened up the closet and began.  Pulling things out, putting things in their correct place, even adding a few toys to the donate pile.  Alex quickly fizzled out and I realized I was doing most of the work.

"Okay Alex, I am going to go get a basket for your ponies, while I am doing that put this pile of stuff in your drawer."  I instructed.

I figured that would be easy enough. I headed down to the garage and got an empty pink basket, perfect for her ponies.  I walked up to the room as soon as I entered she jumped, guilt clouding her face as she was dumping the pile back behind her drawing board.

"Miss!  All you had to do was put in your drawer! What are you doing?"

We got the pile back out and put things were they belonged.  I found some of her doll shoes and went to the long chest at the end of her bed to put the shoes away with the dolls.  When I opened it I knew why she had previously been able to clean her room so quickly as needless to say there was a lot more than just dolls in the chest.

I sighed, closed the lid and declared her room clean.

Do you know someone who cleans like this?

  4. I am always cleaning WITH my kids, so they actually put the stuff back where they are supposed to. It sucks that i have to be there supervising, but everything gets where it's supposed to be.

LOL at her jumping when you walked back in. Nothing like giving it away!

  6. Ethan totally does this. The only way I trust his room is really clean is if I watch him do every thing or do it myself. :) You didn't happen to find Madeline's Tiana barbie shoe did you? haha, Madeline always mentions that.

  8. I've given up on trying to organize their toys! Seriously, I need help!!! Our house is so overrun by toys, I don't know what to do. I have a hard time giving away toys because it reminds me of when they were little. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a hoarder, everything is in bins in the basement, but I just don't know how I'm ever going to part with their baby/toddler toys! Plus, I have no clue how to organize the toys they currently play with. The toys never seem to stay in the bins in their room!

  10. I was the exact same way. To THIS day, when I go home, I still find some of my purses filled with "treasures" :-)

  12. That's so funny! My daughter I think has OCD because she wakes up in the middle of the night just to clean her room...and she's THREE. I seems like her brother my end up the other way though. Only time will tell. ;0)

  13. I have to go in and organize once a week or it becomes.....too much to handle.

Neither of my kids are neat freaks like I was as a child.

  15. My brother and sister "cleaned" their room when I was just a baby. Oh they were so proud. "You don't need to look behind the bunny" they told my mom. A big giant bunny that was now standing in the closet blocking....all the stuff they had stuffed in there. I think every kid in the world cleans this way! hahaha.
