The First Day Blues

6:20 A.M. my alarm reads.  I sigh knowing my days or sleeping in- well as much as my kids will let me are over.

The bags are packed; the outfits picked out.

The kids- thankfully beyond excited.

Today is my kids' first day of school.  Lucas in second grade and it's Alex's first day of kindergarten.

All weekend they have been wishing for time to go faster as they can't wait to start.  I am very thankful for that as otherwise I don't know how excited I would be.

You see, I remember the homework.  I remember the excitement of getting ready in the morning quickly wearing off.

But right now they don't remember that.  All they know is excitement.

Here's hoping it lasts.

First day pictures to come on Wednesday.

Tomorrow is a special day as it is your chance to link up again with Janette and I for the #Photoaday recap.

Share your pictures tomorrow from July, we can't wait to see them!

  1. I remember the excitement of all that! So fun! I also remember how tired I was on the first couple of days because I wasn't used to being in school and using my brain so hard all the time. lol

  7. I hope Alex has a great first day of kindergarten! That's a huge step! I'm sure Lucas will do well...he is a seasoned pro at this in 2nd grade. :o) Lexie starts on Wednesday, so it won't be long for us, either!

  10. Wow, that's nuts your kids are already on their first day of school. I can't remember if kids around here start next week or the week of the 20th... but wow, it seems like they start earlier and earlier every year.

  12. My kids have been back in school for two weeks already...it hasn't been good, because our summer consisted of too many late nights and outings. Anyhow, we'll get there...just on time to go off track again. That's the problem with this whole year round school.

  16. The first day of school was always my very favorite! And if I'm entirely honest, I am DYING to go back in three weeks! School starts pretty early for all of you - or perhaps we're just late!

  21. My WW Leader gave me the "awww" when she found out my kids had not started yet. And you know, I'm good. It's been good overall. I like the extended summer. I even want to try and squeeze one more beach trip in! I am glad Lucas and Alex are off to a happy start! and I hope you enjoy the "down" time. ;)
