Freedom Of Choice

It's not fair; why can't I have dessert?
- Because you didn't eat you dinner.

It's not fair; why do I have to have so much homework?
-  Because it is part of your responsibility with school.

It's not fair; why do I have to go to bed now?
-So you won't be too tired.

It's not fair; why do I have to clean my room?
- Because it is your room and you messed it up

It's not fair....

I believe in freedom of choice- not freedom from responsibility- "fair" or not.

  1. :) Yes, "not fair" isn't a good defense in life and shouldn't be with kids either :)

  4. Ha, I love it! I'm going to have to use that saying with my future kids. This belongs on a poster. :-)

  6. Well said! Now let's just hope the American people make the right choice and vote for our freedom the way God intended it to be!

  9. Well said. And why is it that kids are born thinking it should be fair? Or better yet, that cleaning your own room is somehow unfair?! :)

  10. Love this, Emmy...but the homework thing? Seriously, it is not fair!! (especially for the young kids). I'm anti-homework if you couldn't tell ;)

  11. Actually, all of those things seem pretty fair to me.

  12. I have always told my children "life's not fair and it's my job to teach you that."

  13. The kids have taught me so much about freedom of choice and not freedom 'from' choice.

  14. Good for you in teaching that! There are way too many adults walking around believing every one else is to blame for their issues that they caused themselves. It's so hard not to tell them to take a nice long look in the mirror!!

  15. Where do kids learn that phrase? Faye has been saying it and it makes me laugh. I agree with you completely about freedom of choice not freedom from consequence. :)
