Beach, Fireworks and Best Friends

collage 1
When the forecast called 102 degree high at my house; it was definitely time for a beach trip.  Despite the June gloom and all the stuff you have to lug to the beach- it was so much fun.

The waves were huge, especially the one that took me out on the bodyboard (and the one that took out CA Girl- but you will have to ask her about that), the company was perfect-- my bestie CA Girl and some of her kids, and it totally wiped everybody out.  How does Alex sleep like that??
That was Friday and on Saturday the fun continued.
Movie (Man of Steel-- so so good by the way!), dinner and fireworks all in one day (oh and and shopping at Target) and once again CA Girl and her family were part of the fun too!

Spinning glow sticks at night really are so fascinating to watch.   Ryder was not a fan of the fireworks, covering his ears and barely watching, until he gave up even on that, turned to cuddle with Eric and fell asleep!

It was a wonderful weekend though totally left me needing a nap!

  1. What a perfect time you had, and yay for spending time with Lourie! I'm in awe of Alex's sleep position. What the heck?

    1. I know!! Crazy girl. She woke up when we were almost home and said her neck was stiff, you think!

  2. How fun is that! That beach is crowded compared to the one we visited a few weeks ago. Dang...has it really been two weeks since my feet were in the sand?

I'm bummed that most of the fireworks displays are cancelled in Colorado again this year. :(

    1. Yea it was pretty crowded as it was so hot everywhere but this week will be worse-- never go on the 4th of July unless you like really big crowds.

  3. Ohmygoodness--the pic of your kids knocked out in the car is TOO MUCH!!! Adorable :) And I want three kids (I have two) in the worst way--tell me it's doable when the kids outnumber the parents! So glad to have found ya; SITS Girls rock!

    1. Thank you! Yes three kids is totally doable! Though my first two are only 2 years apart and my youngest is almost 4 years younger than his little sister and that made a huge difference as then the older two were actually enough enough to be semi-helpful at least. :)

  4. What a great weekend! Allison has some crazy sleeping positions in the car as well, I would be very sore after sleeping like that LOL We are all looking forward to Thursday to see the fireworks.

  5. I always feel bad when my kids fall asleep in the car. It is so uncomfortable and I rember kinked necks like no other.
What a fun weekend! I am sort of dreading the 4th weekend because of the heat and crowds, but if we can have as much fun as you did, I guess it would be worth it. :)

  6. Looks like such a blast. My kids are jealous of your beach days! But less jealous of the fireworks - none of my kids are fans!

  7. Wish I could go to the beach with you!

  8. Yea- I am worried that Ryder will not want to go at all on Thursday as he was not a fan

  9. Yes, there is a reason we went to the beach last week and not the week of the 4th or it would be insane. The fireworks we saw were part of a city's birthday party so not too bad

  10. It is funny how kids are able to sleep, I sure couldn't sleep like that!

  12. Yea it has been really hot so everyone is definitely heading to the beaches to cool off. That stinks the fireworks are canceled :(

  13. Lol! I have no idea-- and she seems to do that every time she sleeps in the car

  14. Whenever I see that the two of you are getting to spend time together(I'm an instagram stalker LOL), it makes me smile.

  15. Sounds like a fun day!

  16. Thanks! :) I think a lot of people stalk on instagram :) We do have fun together. We used to live only 10 minutes apart but now are about an hour form each other, so we don't get to hang out nearly as often as we used to

  17. What a great weekend! I'm so glad you had fun!

  18. Ooooh man, I'm going to miss getting to see fireworks this year for the fourth! :o( Booohoooo. It would be a bit ironic to celebrate the fourth here especially since Britian is who we were gaining our independence from. ;o)

I actually prefer to go to the beach on gloomy days. Then I only have to put sunscreen on every hour instead of every 30 minutes. I am half vampire, I swear!

  19. Lol, yes that would be pretty ironic if you still celebrated. So agree about the gloomy days and sunscreen thing. I always like to think of my paleness as me being Snow White :)

  20. Now that you mention it - you could totally be Snow White! You look just like her! Just get some ruby red lipstick and you could work at Disney! ;o)

  21. I was Snow White for Halloween this year and Eric was the huntsman :)

  22. I wish we lived closer to the beach! I'd be there in a heartbeat, no matter how much we'd have to pack! It's so hot here, with no bodies of water to cool off in!

  23. Looks and sounds like you guys had a great time!!

  24. Looks like y'all had a blast and I'd definitely go to the beach any chance I got!

  25. If we lived a little closer, takes us a little over a hour I think we would be there a lot more than we are

  26. Yes, it has been very hot for you guys lately. Hopefully it cools off soon

  27. Oh the beach! So lovely. One day I will get back. I love how completely exhausted everyone was at the end. Those are the best outings.

  28. Yes, if only the sand could magically stay at the beach it would be perfect
