Summer Time Blues

I wanna sing you a song--nah nerh nerh nerh ner
About the summer times blues-- nah nerh nerh ner

Okay really I am not going to sing this entire post. (You're welcome).

But I am feeling a little blue about summer today.  You see, my kids got out of school super early (May 22nd) and go back really early (August 5th); which means my summer is half way over!

I must admit at the beginning of summer I wondered at times if we were going to survive it, but we have!  Now only that but I am loving it!

I love the easy mornings.  I love being able to stay in our pajamas all day just because.  I love no homework!!

Sure that fact that they like to start fighting the second their show is over is annoying.  Also eating, do they seriously have to eat all day??   Did I mention no homework?

Alex is going into first grade this year, that means it will just be Ryder and I all day while the other two are at school.  I must admit I am rejoicing over not having the mid-day pickup... but then again Alex would come home, eat lunch, do her homework then play with Ryder.

What is he going to do all day with just boring old mom??

Summer is going way too fast; I want to enjoy what is left of it.  I will still be around but when it takes me a little longer (okay a lot longer) to comment back and read your blogs just know it is because I am sitting around lazily in my pajamas.... with my kids of course.

It is perfect.

  1. I had a "summer is half over" moment the other day too! Time just goes by too fast these days!

  2. I love summer but when they start arguing or fighting, that drives me crazy! But I love the fact that we have no obligations in the summer with school and sports and can just take it easy!

  3. Yes the fighting does drive me crazy, but the benefits seem to outweigh putting up with that.

  5. Sounds like our days. I love laying around snuggling my little guy. Or going out to visit friends and having an adventure. I just wish the weather were in the upper 70s, low 80s. Then I'd be sad to see it go!

  7. My Keith starts kinder this year and I really wonder how different it will be to not have him around all the time. Some days I am anxious for it to start already, other days I dread the long separation. :)
It is wonderful having those amazing little people around all the time, isn't it? Ryder is going to revel in all the attention and one on one he is going to get from you. He is a very lucky boy. :)

  8. It is crazy to think that summer is already half way over. Are there many kids Ryder's age around? Maybe you can get together with some people for some play dates. I'm going to try to put together some for the fall around here.

  10. I'm loving the joy of sleeping in. No getting up super early and waking cranky kids up. And the no homework is awesome!

  13. There are some and we do usually have a park day during the school year. Plus I have signed up him for library story time before and will probably do that again this year.

  17. We are only on day 1 of summer break! And we start before you...ah, the joys of year round school. I think I'd much prefer traditional.

  18. Yes that would be weird to be on year round school-- the nice thing though you could take little mini trips off season when it isn't so crowded.
