See- a wimp.
First let me start by saying, applauding, bowing down in awe to all of those of you who's husbands travel all the time or eek are deployed!
Eric used to actually go out of town every other week for a couple of days and I got quite used to it, but it has been a while so I
It's not like I even cuddle with him when we are sleeping. I am a total- do not touch me if I am sleeping type. All good for cuddling up to sleeping time, but once I am ready to go to sleep, it is turn away and don't touch me. Somehow though, just knowing that he is there next to me makes sleeping so much easier.
Monday night as I turned the light off and climbed into bed I suddenly noticed how dark it was. I swear it was not that dark the night before. I quickly closed my eyes keeping them safely shut. Did someone just walk in my room? I think I heard something. Not going to peak to find out, going to keep my eyes safely closed, wrapped up under the blankets because you know, if I don't see the bad guy they can't see me. Plus definitely need to keep all body parts safely wrapped up, blanket up to the chin- even in the summertime, have to sleep this way.
Eric was supposed to be gone again last night, but plans changed and he got to come home a day early and I couldn't be happier.
Do you like to cuddle when you sleep? Do you sleep better or worse by yourself?
I am not a cuddler at all! Keith is so hot!!
ReplyDeleteKeith has been working crazy hours for two weeks and I can't sleep when he isn't home. I'm so sleep deprived right now that you'd think I have a newborn.
Eric isn't hot but he tends to twitch when he sleeps and he falls asleep in 3 seconds flat, so I would never be able to get to sleep by that!
DeleteI used to loathe when my husband went out of town. Now, I don't mind it! But, I totally get that.....easing back into the routine.....still freaks me out when a new trip comes up.
ReplyDeleteYea, back when he used to have to travel regularly I did end up adapting to it and was fine, this random trip was just not as much fun
DeleteI'm a hands off sleeper, too. Might be because my husband is like a human furnace!
ReplyDeleteWhat is it with men and being so warm? Connie said the same thing.
DeleteLike you I'm a no cuddling while sleeping person. I need my space.
ReplyDeleteMy husband goes out of town a few times a year and I use that time to hog the entire bed, read half the night, or watch my shows on Netflix in bed.
Yes, I sort of enjoy the evenings and the free time when my husband is gone but then when it is time to actually go to bed I hate it
DeleteI totally am a wimp too! Todd's in Canada right now. He left Sunday morning and wont be back until midnight on Friday night. It's so LONG! I always think I'll go to bed early when he's gone because I'm so tired, but I'm the same way getting all nervous over nothing, so I usually stay up later with the lights on keeping busy and sleep hardly enough to make it! It's okay though, I usually get lots of projects done!
ReplyDeleteUgh, that would be so annoying for him to be gone that long. Yep and I definitely stay up way too late when Eric is gone as I want to be totally sleepy when I climb into bed so I don't lay there awake
DeleteI'm a wimp too! My husband has had to travel just a bit for his job. When he's out of town I lock myself in the bedroom at night when I sleep. I figure it is one more thing that someone would have to go through to get to me. I'm sure it wouldn't really stop them, but it does make me feel better!
ReplyDeleteOh that is true! Though I have to keep my door open so I can hear my kids if they woke up
DeleteI don't like to be touched when I sleep either, unless it's almost time to wake up. I can totally relate to feeling scared--I used to feel like that when my husband first started traveling. Now I hardly think twice about it, although I usually make sure to have the phone right near me, just in case, and there's a heavy-duty flashlight that I could use to knock someone out in my bedside table! :)
ReplyDeleteYea, I think if he did it all the time I would get used to it again. I should get a big flashlight :)
DeleteDon't feel bad, trust me! I've only been away from Mark 2 nights since we've been married and each time freaks me out :) So you're not a wimp, you're used to normalcy.
ReplyDeleteYep that is a much nicer way to think of it :)
DeleteAww, I have a hard time sleeping when Match works graveyard. He worked it for months and months, and then finally switched to days. He still works the occasional night shift, and they stink! I couldn't handle deployment at all. I definitely get spooked by bumps in the night too.
ReplyDeleteOh that would be so hard having him work graveyard, glad he is on the day shift now
DeleteMy Husband works night shift every other week and after 15 years you would think I'd be used to it but I still hate it. I'm the biggest chicken ever!!
ReplyDeleteHey, I don't know if I would ever get used to that!
DeleteGross - def no cuddles while sleeping. That would turn into a clammy, sweaty mess in no time! Ha! I'm glad you made it through the night! I hate being the only adult in the house, too!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to hear I am not the only one who doesn't like to cuddle, I figured most did and sometimes felt bad for my husband.
DeleteSo, you basically described how I sleep. Cuddle until it is time to sleep, then no touching. Blankets up to the chin, regardless of the weather. Except I can sleep without my husband. I sleep better, in fact. It is because I am a bed hog and don't like to be limited on leg room. I am selfish that way. :) I also did the heater and blanket thing as a kid. It was just so wonderful and warm and comforting! Love the picture you posted. so funny!
ReplyDeleteI am definitely much more of a bed hog then when i first got married, it happened when I got pregnant and would turn over only to take up most of the bed with my big belly :)
