I recently told you that Ryder is finally doing better with potty training. I am happy to report that he is still doing awesome, even better in fact. I will be honest he is enjoying being able to sometimes pick a candy, 'from mommy's bowl' as a reward after he goes potty. As isn't the grass, or in this case candy, always greener on the other side? He has not had any accidents the past few days but still doesn't seem to initiate going on his own...
until yesterday.
In my house we have a rule, no snacks after 4:00 PM as otherwise no one would eat their dinner. Alex is always pushing this rule trying to get a snack up until 3:59.
Yesterday at around 4:30, Ryder asked for a snack.
"Sorry, it's after 4, no snack now." I replied.
"I need a potty break!" he quickly replied.
We went into the bathroom, he went even declaring "that was easy" as he does now every time he goes and then looked up and smiled, "I get candy from your bowl now."
Clever, sneaky little boy.
Ha! I love when kids get creative. :)

ReplyDeleteHeehee! I like his thinking! :o) And hey...whatever works. I wasn't above bribing when it came to potty training either!
ReplyDeleteYes, at first when we started I wan’t but when it just was never happening I had to think of more incentive.. now to ween him off the incentive :)
DeleteVery clever indeed!
ReplyDeleteYes, I think I may be in trouble with this one
Deleteoooh, he is a lil' sneaky fella! I really wish I could institute that rule for my kids-- they ask for snacks ALLLLLLLLLL the time and its probably the one phrase that makes me want to throw myself down the stairs every day. Drives me up the wall. YAY for successful potty training.
ReplyDeleteYes, Alex is the worst always asking what to eat. I am glad when it is after 4 as I know I don’t have to deal with it anymore
DeleteHa ha! That's so funny. He's a smart one!
