So here is my first installment of Friday Five
1. Went to BYU's basketball game-we lost- though there were more BYU fans than the home team's fans, so that was fun at least
2. Reinstated Eric and my New Years Eve Tradition of watching Pride and Prejudice -- the awesome five hour version! (Yes I am very lucky to have a husband who will do such things with me)
3. My heart broke a little when we took down all our Christmas stuff New Years Day.. hate taking it down. Am I the only one who hates taking it down? Everything looks so plain and bare!
4. I got all ambitious and have this whole plan for cleaning/decluttering that I will be doing for the year but so far have done it half-heartedly. I am totally blaming it on the fact that my kids are still on Christmas break.
5. Discovered why it is best to wash new blankets by themselves for the first time.... let's just say horrific gray fuzz everywhere. Have had to rewash everything a few times trying to get it all off.
Now 5 pictures from the week:
New Years Eve Dinner- Ryder LOVED the crab leg
Basketball practice for Alex- first game this weekend! |
Trying out the slack line we got for Christmas- totally stole Eric's Instagram collage |

Finished editing one newborn photo shoot, one more to go and I am all caught up What 5 things happened for you this week? |
It is sad when Christmas comes down. I usually wait until my long weekend for MLK Jr. to take it down. This year I have considered taking it down over Christmas break, but I'm not ready for everything to go, just some things. However with the way I have everything boxed up I'd have to drag it all out twice and that's not worth it so it all stays up!
ReplyDeleteYes, I sometimes keep it up longer but not this year. I really need to get a separate box for "winter" decorations, as I could leave up my snowmen and some of the decor- but yea it is all together so I do just box it all up too.
DeleteTaking down the Christmas decorations is so bittersweet. My house looks so sad without them but at the same time I'm always so glad to have my house clean and organized again.
ReplyDeleteYes it is nice to have it clean but definitely pretty sad and empty looking right after
DeleteI love taking Christmas stuff down if I can do it the day after Christmas, December 26. If that doesn't work out, I've been known to have the "take down" drag out for a long time...yes...mine is all still up. Sigh... I've been busy going to work a bit more, making a black and white quilt, and only dreaming of free time to de-clutter and organize. I LOVE doing those kinds of jobs in January, although sometimes I think it's hard to keep the momentum going. Good luck with yours!
ReplyDeleteYou do have a lot going on! Good luck with yours :)
DeleteIt will definitely be easier once the kids are back in school. I feel like everything is off after Christmas is over, but we haven't yet returned to our regular routines. It's like Lexie's school is what keeps our schedule running correctly. :o)
ReplyDeleteI completely don't agree with you about the Christmas decor. We happily put it up the first week of December, and just as happily take it down on New Year's Day. I'm always ready to see it go after a month!
Yes I think people either love or hate taking Christmas stuff down; I fall in the hate category :) It will be easier to get into my new routine when the kids are back in school.
DeleteI am always ready to put the decorations away and restore order, I am so OCD.
ReplyDeleteYea, there is definitely something to be said about things being in order
DeleteHaha I think I am the opposite, and I am usually ready to take the decorations down and all the gifts and boxes etc..ready for some normalcy. But I could see it does look a little sad afterwards!
ReplyDeleteYes I definitely do better keeping to my routines once Christmas is all over but yep so bare at first
