The cute ways they say mommy or daddy, the cute and funny names they come up for their grandparents, just ask my father-in-law i.e. Poppie, Boppa, Ice Cream Sandwich (yes that last one is from Alex)
Then of course those funny mispronunciations.
There was the incident when Alex was in her first year of preschool and came home and told me all about the nail she was playing with and how she found a nail outside and was picking it up.
Thankfully before I freaked out too much, I realized she was saying "snail".
Ryder now is just like his sister, the other day telling me about the "know" that was on the ground in his game. "Look at the know!" -- i.e. snow.
My favorite is the way he says his siblings names... and well he has obviously heard me point out the fact that he can't quite say them.
Yes his brother "Wuh-eh"
What are some favorite mispronunciations you have heard?
I like the ones that sound like bad words but mean something else entirely and they don't know it's a bad word. My son always says Cuck (sorry) for stuck and truck and it makes me giggle every time!

DeleteMy niece has a sweet little lisp, and doesn't pronounce her r's. But she doesn't realize it. She calls her friend Brie "Bwee", and when I copy her, she gets mad at me. "No, Jilly, it's not Bwee, it's BWEEEE"... kinda priceless!!
ReplyDeleteLol, so cute! I love when you try and correct them and they are just insistent they are saying it that way and saying it right. I have had to instruct my older two just to let it go though when they are trying to correct Ryder as they just don’t get that he does think he is saying it just like they are.

DeleteMy niece has the funniest logic... She says "benext to" instead of "next to"... Kind of like, "the dog is BElow the table." Or "the dog is BEtween the tree & the fence." So in her mind... She is standing "BEnext" to the fence.

ReplyDeleteLexie had problems with her k's when she was little. She'd pronounce them as t's instead, which was cute when she'd try to say something like monkey, not so cute when she'd say kitties. ;o)

DeleteThey are funny! I can't remember Nolan's right now but there is a word he always says wrong. Conley says milk with a g somehow lol? I think he's trying to pronounce the k and that's how it comes out haha!

DeleteThere is something so endearing about "toddler" talk. My youngest can't say "finished" and it always end up sounding like 'mimished'.
