Don't Read My Mind

Last week as I was wandering thorough Target, a dangerous thing to do as the more I wander the more things jump into my cart, I had a thought....

I am really glad people can't read minds.

When asked if you could have a super power, some wish for strength, some wish for speed, some wish to read minds.

Now, I will admit there have definitely been many times where I wish I could know what someone is thinking or know if my kids are hiding something from me.

Sometimes I think I wish I could know what someone really thinks about it me....  but then wait a minute, I don't think I really want to know.

"She's really wearing that today?"  "Oh her kids are probably going to cause trouble"  "Wow, did she even run a brush though her hair"

Those little thoughts, those little things that people might quickly think but then often even dismiss in their own minds, if I heard them I think it would be paralyzing, make it impossible to make any decision, do anything without worrying and second guessing.

Plus if I had the ability to read minds, that would mean there was a good chance someone else had that same ability, then last week as I wandered through Target they would have heard this

"Man my underwear is riding up something horrible, I really need to pick it out!"

And really, no one wants to hear that.

Would you want to read someone's mind?

  1. I don't think I want to hear someone's every thought (including my husband's.) Sometimes I wish I could read my toddler's mind, but now that he's more verbal, I think we're ok. :)

    1. Yea, it is always one of those things that at first you think would be nice but the more you think about it- maybe not so much

  4. At times I thought that it'd be kind of nice but as I get older I realize I don't want to hear most of what people say much less what they think! And no one needs to be able to read my mind. It wouldn't be good for anyone!

  5. Nope, I most definitely wouldn't want to read minds! I think I'd wind up with very hurt feelings more often than not! If I could have a super power, it'd absolutely be teleportation. :-)

    1. Oh it would be nice to be able to teleport- could see family all the time or spend the day at the beach in Hawaii- ah that would be a good one

  6. I don't think I would want to be able to read minds...for the simple fact that I wouldn't want anyone reading mine! There's a LOT that runs through my mind on a daily basis that I would never say out loud...so it probably wouldn't be a good thing for someone else to know those things! lol

  7. I've thought about it before and came to the conclusion that no, I don't think I would.
I know I have lots of thoughts that I don't really even mean. I think the world would be full of hate if we had the ability to read minds!

    1. Exactly! There are often little random thoughts and I will be like, what? Why did I even think that and quickly scoot that thought out, but if that person just heard the thought and not the after thoughts it could be horrible

  8. um, sometimes it would be nice to know what people think - it help to understand their behavior and why they do what they do - but I certainly wouldn't want anyone to know what I think.
