Me and Mary |
1. How long have you been blogging?
I started a blog in October of 2006 as a family journal. I went back and forth on the privacy thing but have kept it private for the last several years. However, I'm very excited to have launched a public blog last month. The design is still a work in progress but there are a few posts up already. It will be filled with a little of this, a little of that, and 100% me.
2. What is your favorite thing to do to wind down when you have some me time?
The better answer is reading, but I love a good tv show too. Anyone else watching Parenthood? What is going on there?!
3. What is your favorite dessert?
3. What is your favorite dessert?
I love cheesecake so much that I skipped traditional wedding cake and went with three flavors of the gloriously yummy dessert.
4. If you were given $100,000 today what would you do with it?
4. If you were given $100,000 today what would you do with it?
I would be sure to do some responsible things like put some in savings, college funds for kids, etc. And then I would take my whole family on a Disney cruise.
5. What are some of your favorite books?
5. What are some of your favorite books?
I love all types of books but I especially enjoy dystopian and historical fiction. Some of my favorites are The Help, Austenland, and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.
Thank you Mary! Please head over to her new blog and show her some comment love.
5 Things
1. More soccer games this weekend and both kids teams won! Alex played goalie for one quarter and is still yet to be scored on. Lucas unfortunately got hurt at the beginning of his game, ball bent his wrist back, but was able to come back the second half and finish the game.
2. Alex was counting down to April Fool's day as she was determined to fool someone... when it came down to it, she wasn't too successful.
3. Last week SoCal was racked with earthquakes, including one of the longest lasting ones I have ever felt, it was followed up with about 100 aftershocks within 24 hours (most of which were so minor that they weren't felt). Then we had yet another yesterday, a very small one but one that was centered too close to my house for comfort.
4. Tuesday was the Pinewood derby. Lucas' car did great last year and this year's car seemed even better... what was not better was the track. Cars were literally flying off of during almost every race. Lucas' car which was purposely very back heavy would hit any little bump and went flying off a few times. Had the track been good I think he would have done great. Needless to say he was not a happy camper.
5. I said I wasn't going to watch American Idol this year, just kind of over it but I still set it up to record and now during the day, I have actually been watching episodes getting caught up, I just made it to the final 13 though, so no one say anything! I actually really like Harry Connick Jr. as a judge.
5 Pictures
Ready to watch the Pinewood Derby |
See what I mean! Lucas' car is the one still actually on the track in this heat |
Rain in the valley and snow on the mountains this week- I do love where I live |
We were the talk of the soccer fields with our cool shade tent, can't wait to take it to the beach |
What is your 5 for the week?
Wow, I have never been in an earthquake and I don't think I want to. Scary stuff, but I'm glad you all are ok. I haven't been into American idol either but I do like Harry connick jr too maybe I should watch it once.
ReplyDeleteThat's so frustrating about the derby track! One would think someone would've done a better job - especially as it isn't the first year! Scary about the earthquakes. I've only felt one tiny one and it was strange enough. Can't imagine a bigger one. Love love the shade tent! Glad Lucas wasn't hurt too much!
ReplyDeleteYes, it is the same track we use every year it is just getting to worn out
DeleteGreat photos!! I don't watch American Idol, but the guy Caleb is from my town (and even my side of town. He went to the high school I went to - and that my husband works at.) So....small world. :)
ReplyDeleteI keep seeing all of your FB posts about the earthquakes, you must have nerves of steel! And you guys are some soccer pros with that setup!
ReplyDeleteThanks for having me! And even though I like earthquakes (little ones that don't do damage) this many at once has me nervous, lol. Sounds like you had a great week.
ReplyDeleteThat is too bad about the tracks. Where did you get that tent? I have been wanting something like forever.
ReplyDeleteYep, it was annoying. We got it at the Bass Pro Shop, it had been on sale the last little bit for $50.
DeleteOh that car track racing looks like fun!! How scary about the earthquakes. Is there like an earthquake season or something? btw totally random but I'm soooo excited that I have CA friends because I always heard that CA went to school year round but you guys help break that myth!
ReplyDeleteI don’t know if there are seasons but they definitely seem to come in waves and together. I know in Utah a lot of the schools are year round but of all of the schools I can think of none are year round here.
DeleteI need a tent like that! Anytime I'm out in the sun longer than 20 minutes, I turn red as a tomato! Darn sensitive skin...
ReplyDeleteI'm such a dope - when I was reading about the pinewood derby, I was assuming the cars were ones that the kids made and rode in themselves! So when I was reading about the cars going off the tracks, I was like...Whoa, how unsafe is that!? Then I saw the picture... LOL.
Lol that really would be bad if the kids were in the car and it wasn’t coming off the track. Thankfully not the case. I burn easily too
DeleteOhh that's too bad about the car track. That's not fair to the boys. They get so into the race so it must have been very disappointing for a lot of them. At ours this year they didn't even announce winners because in the past some boys have gone home crying and upset about it!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry the derby was a disappointment.
ReplyDeleteI have to say, your view beats mine by far. I really want to move!!!
