My Baby is Growing Up

Today is a special day, my baby is now 4!  I cannot believe he is already 4-years-old.

He had a very rough start, coming 8 weeks early. So tiny, so small, less than 5 pounds.  Then he just wasn't growing very well and had horrific reflux.  Thankfully with time and medicine everything got better.(You can watch his birth story and first year with this video I made a few years ago)


Now he is 4.
He truly is his own person.  

He loves to play with cars and any kind of ball.
He can already hit a ball with a bat, shoot a basket and kicks the soccer ball totally straight.
He knows what he wants, even ordering his pop with no ice (something none of us do so not sure why he started that).
He loves singing and is often singing about everyday life, just making up little songs.

He loves to have his back rubbed, but you have to rub it just right or he will tell you "no like this"


He still can't quite say the letter s at the beginning of words, so the 'know' (snow) falls from the sky, and he loves 'movies' (smoothies).

He is always listening, even when he is tumbling around and acting crazy he will suddenly say word for word something he just heard someone else say.
He loves cutting with scissors and can write his own name, he will write the R, then have to respell his name to remember what comes next, it is adorable but he does it and writes it all on his own.

He isn't afraid to tackle his brother or sister and always wants a cuddle from me.

He likes ice-cream in a cone but then will ask for a spoon to eat it from the cone.

He is excited to start preschool and not be "stuck at home" with mom all day.

He knows how to work the iPads and computer, he will go and start up Starfall or Disney Junior on the computer all by himself.

He is always asking about things, "what way did you push the blinker" is his latest question he always asks.

Most of the time he is kind and easy going, but he will occasionally lose it and scream at his siblings.

My Ryder, I cannot imagine my life without him and today he is one year older.
