5 Thoughts

1. The kids all had a great first week of school.  Both Lucas and Alex loves their teachers and there has only been a tiny bit of homework, so it has been a pretty easy start to the school week.

2. I have a brother Aaron and and a brother-in-law named Aaron.  When we were all in Yellowstone, Ryder started calling my brother Aaron "that guy".  He would even say things like 'is that guy going to ride in the car with us?'  This last week at dinner I was telling my kids something funny my brother Aaron had posted on Facebook and the following conversation occurred.
 Lucas: "Which Aaron said that?"
Me: "My brother, or that guy"
Alex: "Why does Ryder call him that guy?"
 Eric: "Just to be funny."
Ryder: "And there is bacon man" (A nickname my brother-in-law Ross-who loves bacon- has)
Alex: "And I call him Mr. Bacon"
 Lucas"I call Uncle Ross, Ross"
Ryder: "I call the chair, chair" and then he laughed and laughed.

3. Ryder started preschool this week!  All week long he was totally excited and couldn't wait to start. The morning of, at one point he did say, 'but that is going to be too long'.  When we got to preschool he stood by me shyly and didn't say anything to the other kids.  When it was time to go in, he went right in without a second thought.  When I picked him up he was totally happy and told me all about the things he did and the friends he played with.

4. I survived and even enjoyed my first day at home alone.  I talked to my parents for a while, my mom had to leave halfway though, so I was just talking with my dad.  Whenever it is just he and I talking, we seem to talk even longer.  Then I spent the rest of the time taking pictures of a bunch of things I am going to sell on a local selling site.  The time went quickly; though I did try and go to Ryder's side of the car to get him in his seat when it was just me.

5. Between a date, a church meeting and a back to school night, our babysitter has come three times within the last week.  Thankfully my kids love her, she even braided Alex's wet hair  one of the times she came; that way it could be all wavy the next morning.  Love having a great babysitter.

  1. I love the conversation between the kids. That guy. Lol! My nephew used to call me that lady. :-) I can't believe Ryder is in preschool already!! I bet it was pretty great having the house to yourself. I get so much done in the hour that Match takes Piglet to the gym, so I can just imagine having a few hours alone. I bet you missed him though. Love that you have a nice babysitter. We have one too, and we really need to use her again. It's been so long since we had a date night. Sushi looks amazing!

    1. That is funny that you were “that lady”. I know, it really is so crazy to me that he is in preschool, in so many ways he just seems so young to me still.. probably always will since he is my baby. I did miss him but did also get a lot done while he was gone. Definitely need to go on a date!

  2. HAHA LOVE that you ate the drumstick in peace and quiet when no little people were trying to get licks! I can't believe that they started school already...ours start August 28th here in Canada, but most start after Labour Day which is Sept 1 this year. I love the way her braids made her hair wavy, like nice wavy. I try to do my daughters when it's wet but 1) i'm not a good braider 2) it never turns out wavy looking like that!

    have a good weekend

    1. Most schools start later than ours, some don’t even start until September, but yea we are just extra early. I am not a good braider either, I can do a regular braid but not a french braid at all. The babysitter did this, she did two french braid pony tail kind of things and it turned out great the next morning.

  3. I bet that time to yourself flew by! On Tuesday's both boys will be at MDO, so I'm interested to see how that goes!

  7. It's a weird feeling being a lone mom at home once all the kids are off - isn't it? Of course our little surprise ended that situation for me pretty quickly! Now I have 4 more years to go until I get some on my own time again!

Loving all the pictures. My kids don't start back until next Wednesday. And p.s. - I did what you said and blogged. :)
