My Writing Process

Today my awesome blogging friend Nicole of Midwestern at Heart gave a shout out to me as part of the My Writing Process Blog tour, hosted by Kenzie of Chasing My Extraordinary.  While, I slacked and a bit and didn't quite follow all the rules (didn't showcase anyone else) I figured I would still answer the questions.

So if you want to, play along!

Here are the rules:
1 | In your post, acknowledge the blogger/blog that invited you to the tour.
2 | In your post, answer the following questions for your readers:
       a. What am I working on?
       b. How does my work differ from others of its type/genre?
       c. Why do I write what I do?
       d. How does my writing process work?
3. Choose a couple bloggers to showcase as well (but only if they want to participate in the process), give a short bio on them, and add links to their blog.

a. What am I working on?  Right now I am working on blogging consistently again.  After almost six years or blogging, I know it has it's ups and downs but I just can't get on top of it lately.  If you feel like I have been neglecting you all and not reading your blogs much lately, it's true, I suck!  I do love blogging though and all of the friendships and connections I have made, so when life gets a little less busy I will be back on top of it.

b. How does my work differ from others of its type/genre?  This one is tricky... blogging as a whole has changed a lot over the years and I think I might be different in that I feel like I have kept to my voice, same platform, etc. over time.  Yes, there has definitely been changes, but I guess I feel like I haven't changed to every little new trend or thing that comes along, but try to stay true to me and how I like to write.

c. Why do I write what I do?  Because I enjoy it, it is my place to talk, to share, to vent occasionally.  It is a place where I can let my creative writing voice break free and be heard. I want it to be something that I can share with my kids someday and it will be a little window to who I am.

d. How does my writing process work?  I usually get ideas for posts at totally random times.  The post will sort of start writing itself in my brain, word for word, line for line.  I will often pull out my phone and try and type enough in the notes to jog my memory for when I have time to write the actual post.  If I have time, I will sit down and write it right then.  It never seems to come out as naturally and perfectly as it is in my brain, but at times it is pretty close.

So there we go, a little insight into how I write my blog posts, when I actually write that is.  Where do you find inspiration for your posts?

  1. Isn't it frustrating when at first it sounds great in your head but it looks different on page. I go thru that too!

  2. I have been trying to get on top of reading blogs consistently -- life has just been too busy lately! The first step is recognizing it though :D
