Motherhood Requires Patience

Motherhood requires patience

I want it now!

Gimmie! Gimmie!

In a world of instant gratification and being happy now, motherhood often is the exact opposite.

Can't wait until your baby sleeps through the night?

Yeah, you are going to have to wait for it.

Can't wait until your toddler finally stops having accidents?

Yeah, you are going to have to wait for that.

Can't wait until they stop crying because you loaded too many things on the grocery store conveyor belt when they wanted to?

Yeah, you are going to have to wait for it .

Want to not have to repeat the same advice and rules over and over again?

Yeah, you are going to have to wait for that.

Want to feel more joy and happiness than you have ever imagined?

Yeah, you DON'T have to wait for that.

Motherhood requires patience.  It is hard and sometimes even mundane.  Sometimes it makes you want to pull your hair and throw yourself on the ground and throw a tantrum just like a two-year-old.

But don't waste the time waiting, hoping, wishing for the next thing.  Find the joy, find the little things.  Enjoy it.  Love it.  Cherish it.

It is worth the wait.

  1. Such a great reminder. Sometimes I find myself wishing some of the moments away, but I know I'll regret it later.

  2. I giggled at the throwing yourself down and having a tantrum. I've felt that way and I've been at this 8 months :). These are such great words of advice!

    1. Thank you! I think just about everything in life requires patience and with today’s go-go-go world people have totally forgotten that and with it respect and kindness towards others way too often

  4. I love this. Each and every sentence in it.

So often we get caught up in the things we don't want to deal w. that we forget the things we get pleasure from.
