The Dangers of a Handstand: A Weekend in Indio

One attempt at doing a handstand in the water, that was all it took.

This weekend was wonderful, a little getaway from it all and not only my family but my best friend and her family.

Lucas has been plotting for this tip to happen again, having loved it the first time around and wanting to spend more time with his cousin, or cousin-once removed or however it works.

This last weekend we spent the weekend at our time share in Indio and invited CA Girl and her family.

The weekend was filled of swimming
Swimming at Worldmark Indio
and more swimming
Cousins at a splash pad
and more swimming
Best friends

Oh and eating and laughing and having lots of fun too.

I am not really a big swimmer; a lot of time I hardly even go under the water. Floating in the lazy river in a tube is more my style.

But I was brave and adventurous and had to attempt a handstand... one time.

One time I went fully under, one time I flipped around under the water.

That one time trapped water in my ear, leaving me with an ear so clogged and painful that I went to the doctor yesterday and got medication for it.

I cannot believe how easily it happened.

It didn't start feeling really clogged or hurting until the day after swimming and I didn't initially feel like I had a lot of water in my ear, but apparently I did.  So now for the next seven days, three times a day I have to put drops in my ear.  That will be interesting at BlogHer, that I am going to tomorrow.  Hopefully my roommates are kind and obliging to help me put some drops in my ear, what a first impression huh?

Despite the ear, the weekend was totally worth it and I am so glad I got to spend the weekend with family and friends.

Next time I will stick to the lazy river.

  1. I hate when I get water trapped in my ear. Luckily it doesn't happen to me often, but it's such a miserable feeling!
