Every Photographer Should Get Their Pictures Taken

I think it should be a requirement as a photographer to get your pictures taken.  Take your turn on the other side of the camera.

This last Saturday my family got our pictures taken.  I have a dear friend who is also a photographer (Find more of her work here) and is pregnant, and so we exchanged sessions, a family session for my family and I am going to be take her newborn pictures soon.

I was so excited for the pictures and then it was time to pick out outfits...

I am a photographer!  I take pictures of families all the time.  I see the cute outfits they pick out, yet it felt so incredibly difficult.

After I went to way too many stores and spent way too much money, I finally had it- what would be the perfect outfits for my family.

We decided to do an early morning shoot, which was very ambitious of us.  From problems of rolled sleeves bothering the boys, me accidentally burning Alex's head with the curling iron, and leaving 15 minutes later than I wanted to, it was a little chaotic to say the least.

As we were pulling up late, it made me have a lot more empathy for when my clients arrive seeming a bit frazzled.  You forget what all goes into it on the other end.  Remembering this will help me feel a little more understanding next time my clients are a few minutes late- as sometimes things are just crazy.

In the end, we got amazing pictures that I love and everyone had a great time and I cannot wait to take pictures of Angie's new baby.

Here are just a few of my favorite pictures-- it was hard to pick as I love them all!

  1. I love these pictures! And I absolutely agree that photographers need to get themselves in front of the camera once in awhile.
